The Snowflake Lobos defeated the Winslow Bulldogs 22-7 in a non-conference football game played on Friday at Snowflake. The win allowed the Lobos to improve their record to 2-1. Winslow also had a 2-1 record after the loss. The Bulldogs are 2-0 in the Enchantment (3A North) Region. Snowflake has yet to play a 3A East Region game.

After a scoreless first period, the Lobos put together an 89-yard drive to put the first points on the board. Quarterback Porter Caldwell connected with Brennon Adams on an 11-yard touchdown pass. Adams then ran for the two-point conversion and an 8-0 Snowflake lead with 8:02 left until intermission. The drive included three long Caldwell passes and a pair of circus catches by Lobo receivers.

The second Snowflake touchdown came on a 34-yard drive following a partially blocked Winslow punt. Chad Green scored on a two-yard run on fourth and goal. Adams booted the conversion for a 15-0 Lobo lead with 5:07 remaining in the quarter.

Winslow got on the board with a 13-yard pass from Steven Martinez to Arthur Brito. Brandon Nazario converted and the Bulldogs had cut the Lobo lead to 15-7 with only 1:06 left until intermission.

The most crucial plays of the contest occurred in the first few minutes of the second half. Anthony Carter returned the second half kick-off 80 yards to the Lobo 10-yard line, only to have the play nullified by a clipping penalty. On the first play following the penalty, Snowflake intercepted a Martinez pass at the Bulldog 28-yard line.

The Lobos drove to the Winslow seven where the biggest play of the night happened. On fourth and goal, the Lobos elected to try a field goal. The snap from center sailed over the holder and kicker Adams caught it scrambled and fired a touchdown pass to Ira Willis standing in the end zone. The kick was good and the Lobos led 22-7. The final points were on the board with 8:30 still remaining in the third quarter.

Winslow will host top ranked and defending Arizona State 3A Champion Blue Ridge on Friday. The Yellowjackets had their way with Ganado, thrashing the Hornets 57-8 at Ganado. Snowflake will host the Holbrook Roadrunners. Holbrook absorbed its worst loss of the season as the Payson Longhorns pounded them 46-0 at Payson on Friday.
