Winslow’s Recall Count Continues

The Navajo County Recorder’s Office expects to complete the verification of signatures on the recall petitions for the entire Winslow City Council this week.

Recorder Laurette Justman said certification notices should be mailed to Winslow City Clerk Linda Samson by mid-week. Justman said once the certification notices are sent, the city of Winslow can proceed with its recall election. She noted that the city will be handling the recall election. The recorder’s office is only verifying the signatures on the recall petitions. Although the final verification is not complete, election officials said it appears that there will be enough signatures to force a recall election.

Judy Howell, doing business as Citizens for the Improvement of Winslow, presented the recall petitions to the Navajo County Elections Department Oct. 22. Included in the recall attempt are Mayor Jim Boles, and Council Members Harold Soehner, Robert Mansell, Thomas McCauley, Robert Beamish, Robin Boyd and Dee Rodriguez.
