Scholarship Aids Cosmetologists
The Rotary Vocation Fund awards scholarships to help individuals further their career. The two recipients plan to use the money to purchase equipment needed to get started in the cosmetology field.
Lisa Lucero entered NPC’s cosmetology program in July 2000 and graduated in August 2001. She is employed by Hair and Nails Are It, which is located in the Papagayo Building on Third Street in Winslow. She used her scholarship to purchase supplies needed to start working at her new job. Lucero will begin working at the salon at the end of November after taking a month to be with her new baby, which was born Friday, October 26.
Bernadette Gonzales of Winslow also received a scholarship.
The Rotary Vocation Fund of Arizona provides scholarship to trade school students, associate degree students and welfare recipients who need training and/or tools to make them productive members of society.
The fund is aimed at helping individuals gain meaningful employment, take pride in their jobs, develop a solid work ethic and helping themselves improve their life.
