Christmas On Parade
Members of the Starz Dance Team from Winslow and Mesa joined forces in the Christmas Parade. The group performed while walking down the street.
Chartwell’s Food Service won the non-profit float category. Their float consisted of adults and children dressed up like deserts and rock and roll icons of the 50’s.
The Winslow Warshield Dancers won the dance category.
Cake Chevrolet took the commercial float category with their large candy canes.
The Tolani Lake Headstart program and Tribe of Many Feathers tied for the best youth float. Each group will receive a plaque for their entry.
The Hopi Junior and Senior High School JROTC won best military group. They performed chants and drill movements while marching. The group was accompanied by a large transport truck belonging to the U.S. Military.
The Flagstaff Kennel Club K-9 Drill Team won best walking group. The dogs performed tricks while walking the parade route.
The best vehicle went to Old Trails Museum.
After the parade was over, Griffith classified it as a success. “It’s the best we’ve had in years, probably in 15 years, the best crowd, enthusiasm, and weather,” she said.
“This was Small Town, America at its best,” she added.
