Workforce Development Youth Eligibility

The Tuba City Sub Office will be completing eligibility for In-School Youth and Out-of-School Youth. The Youth Opportunity Program will also be completing eligibility. Diabetes Education

Diabetes and Weight Management classes will be held during the month of May at 2500 N. Rose Street in Flagstaff. May 2: Nutrition I: Basics of eating, food and glucose management at 10 a.m. and Community Screening: Are you at risk? at 5:30 p.m. May 16: Nutrition II: Planning meals and stocking the cupboard at 10 a.m. and Class I: Monitoring and regulating your blood glucose at 5:30 p.m. May 23: Nutrition I at 10 a.m. and Class II: Exercise, oral medications and “all about insulin,” at 5:30 p.m. May 30: Nutrition I at 10 a.m. and Class III: Changing Behavior, stress, coping, personal health habit and long term complications at 5:30 p.m. Classes are free; no registration required. Korean Veterans Meeting

There will be a meeting for all Korean Veterans at the Shiprock Chapter House on May 4 at 10 a.m. (DST), to discuss upcoming events for the summer of 2001. For more information, call Richard George at (520) 283-6669.

Benefit Social and Song and Dance

A Benefit Social Song and Dance will be held Friday, May 4 at the Sports Complex in Page. Registration: 10 a.m. (MST); Grand Entry: 1 p.m. Awards to all group singers and dancers. Vending for artists for arts and crafts are welcome $20 per booth, bring your own table. Donations of groceries and other items appreciated. This event is sanctioned by the Western Diné Social Song and Dance Committee. Admission: $3.50. Under four years old free.

Blues Festival

The Native American Music Association and the Tribeca Blues Club present the First Annual Native American Blues Festival, starring Jana, Jimmy Wolf, Gary Small and the Allen Wrench Band, Friday, May 4 at the Tribeca Blues Club, New York, NY.
