John H. Ervien

Funeral services for John H. Ervien were held at the First Assembly of God Church, Friday, February 2 at 10 a.m. Interment took place at Desert View Cemetery.

John Ervien passed away on January 30 in Winslow. He was born on October 18, 1968. He came to Winslow in 1979, where he owned and operated his own plumbing business, Ervien Plumbing.

His survivors include: His mother, Letha Ervien of Tacoma, Washington; son, Joshua Heath Ervien of Winslow; brother, Jack Butch Ervien of Tacoma, Washington; sisters, Cindy Ervien, Candy Martinez, Cassey Ervien and Carolee Lowe, all of Tacoma, Washington; aunt and uncle Marilee and Jim Ervien of Winslow.

Greer's Scott Mortuary of Winslow was in charge of the arrangements.

Bess Stevenson MacLean

Bess Stevenson MacLean, 90, died January 28. She was a 71 year Winslow resident She was married to Burns MacLean for 40 years. He died October 15, 1977. Bess taught grades 1-4 in the Winslow School District for 27 years.

She is survived by her son, two granddaughters and two great-granddaughters. At her request, no services will be held.

Greer's Scott mortuary of Winslow was in charge of the arrangements.

Stella Ann Yazzie

Funeral Services for Stella Ann Yazzie, 57, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 6 at Greer's Scott Mortuary. lnterment followed in Desert View Cemetery.

Stella Yazzie passed away on February 1, in Flagstaff. She was born on November 21, 1943 in Cedar Springs.

She is survived by her husband Norman Yazzie; sons, Norbert Yazzie, Sr. and Nelbert Yazzie; daughters, Norma Begay and Roxanna Lewis, both of Teesto; brothers, Leroy M. Yazzie and Wayne Jake Yazzie both of Teesto; sisters, Polly Todicheeney of Teesto, Eleanor Curley of Two Greyhills, New Mexico, Chevonne Jennings of Shiprock, New Mexico, Susie Chee and Nita Jones both of Teesto, and 11 grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Jaxe Yazzie, Sr,

Betty E. Thompson

Betty E. Thompson of Prescott, 73, passed away on February 4 after a long illness. She was born in Gallup, New Mexico May 8, 1927, moving to Winslow in 1940 and residing there for 58 years. Betty retired from Valley National Bank in December 1984 as assistant manager after a 40 year career in Winslow. She loved arts, crafts, woodworking, knitting, quilting, collecting Hummels and family albums. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Prescott.

Betty was preceded in death by mother Mary (Schmidtmeyer) and father Clarence Burgess; two sisters, Ruth Santesteban and Wilma Garner, all of Winslow.

Betty is survived by Tommy, her husband of 31 years; two daughters, Linda and husband Mike Howell of Flagstaff and Darlene Blair of Winslow; step-daughter Connie Thompson of Phoenix and step-son Thomas Thompson of Peoria; sister Mary Lou and husband Bill Ewan of Payson; seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, February 8 at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez, Prescott with visitation preceding the service from 6-7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 9 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 150 Fleury Drive, Prescott, with Rev. Richard Ferrell celebrating. Burial will be at the Prescott Mountain View Cemetery.
