Bulldogs split with Fountain Hills

The Winslow Bulldogs split a pair of non-conference baseball games with the Fountain Hills Falcons at Fountain Hills on March 10. The Falcons took the opener 12-2, but Winslow came back to win the nightcap 13-12. The split left Winslow with a record of 5-5 for the season.

Winslow managed only three singles and a double in the first contest, a 12-2 Fountain Hills win. Fountain Hills had a dozen safeties including three home runs. Shawn Mead had two hits for Winslow. Dub Ward had a double and Allan Richards a pinch-hit single.

The Bulldogs had 12 hits in their 13-12 win, but the Falcons managed 11 safeties and three homers. Richards got the win with Fernando Lopez working the final 2/3 of an inning and picking up his second save of the season. Steven Martinez had a three-run homer in the sixth that proved to be the game-winner. Mead was two for three with a double and three RBI's. Ward was two for three with two RBI's. Daniel Vandervalk was two for three with a double. Mike Martinez, Mike Beeson, Richards, Lopez and Seth Davis all hit safely as well.
