Police Memorial Day brings officers together in Winslow

Officers from the Winslow Police Department, the Navajo Nation Police, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Arizona Department of Corrections and the Navajo County Sheriff's Office form the Honor Guard for the memorial ceremony May 18 at Desert View Cemetery.

Mayor Jim Boles spoke, emphasizing that police forces stand on duty in hard times, like the big wind and dust storm last spring. a poem was read by Officer Sarah Blanton of the WPD and Lt. Verne Martin of the WPD read the roll of honor for the fallen. Vivian Stinson, treasurer of the FOP and evidence custodian for the WInslow police department, presented the wreath.
