Ila Casebier LaMar
Funeral Services for Ila Casebier LaMar or Morristown were held June 26 in Wickenburg, Ariz. Mrs. LaMar died June 22 at the Wickenburg Regional Medical Center.
She was 109 years, 9 months, and 14 days old, and was in good health throughout her life except the last 10 days.
Mrs. LaMar was born September 8, 1891, in Saffordville, Kansas. She married C.H. LaMar in 1913 at her family home hear Osage City, Kansas. They young couple and their two children moved to Arizona in 1916 where her husband worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as Section Foreman, first at Hibbard, located between Winslow and Joseph City, then Sunshine, Adamana and in 1923 moved to Morristown where the family resided the past 78 years.
She lived in three centuries: As a youngster in the 19th Century, as 100 years of the 20th Century, and completed her journey in life in the 21st Century. She lived during the term of 21 Presidents. Her life began in the horse and buggy days and extended into the space age through she never flew in a plane.
She was preceded in death by her husband C. Horald LaMar in 1968 and a daughter Dorothy Tipton in 1994.
Survivors include six children: Ena McGuire (Erwin) of Morristown; Clyde LaMar (Ruby) of Heber; Howard DeLoss LaMar of Congress; Ila Mae Sutherlin (John) of Glendale; Dwight LaMar (Marie) of Winslow; and Beverlee Ruth LaMar of Phoenix; 14 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Hassayampa Order of Eastern Star, Chapter No. 35.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Wickenburg Funeral Home. Burial was at the Morristown Cemetery.
