Code Talkers Video

The Museum shop at the Anasazi Heritage Center is happy to announce that the Navajo Code Talkers Video is now available for sale. Quantities are limited, but orders can be taken. We also will be happy to ship copies for you. The Anasazi Heritage Center is open 7 days a week, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There no entrance fee from October 1st to March 1st. Preschool Discoveries

Kids, follow a Navajo goat to learn how he helps his owner turn his wool into a beautiful Navajo rug during a Museum of Northern Arizona Preschool Discoveries on January 12. Children ages three to five will listen to the story, Goat in the Rug, and then make a weaving project to take home. Pre-registration is necessary by calling (520) 774-5213, extension 275 or 241. The cost is free for Museum Members and $2 for non-members. Pre-registration and adult accompaniment is required.

Bluff Balloon Festival

The 3rd Annual Bluff, Utah International Balloon Festival will be held January 19, 20, and 21. A record total of 33 balloons are expected to ascend into the Bluff skies during the three-day event. On January 19, special events include: Flying Bluff; the Road Runner and Coyote Race; and the evening “Hot Air Balloon Glow.” On January 20 there will be more balloons, a Navajo Taco sale, story telling with Michael Lacapa, a craft bazaar, and music with the Elk Ridge Boys. On January 21, the balloons once again fly the Valley of the Gods, followed by a brunch. Hoop Dance

The 11th Annual World Championship Hoop Dance Contest will be held February 3 -4 at the Heard Museum Amphitheater from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Master of Ceremonies: Dennis Bowen, Sr., Seneca, Tuba City. Judges from five regions across North America Contest open to Native dancers only. Tribal enrollment or CIB required. Senior, Adult, Teen, Youth and Tiny Tots divisions. Flagstaff Winterfest 2001

Flagstaff Winterfest 2001 will be February fun for everyone! Over 100 events at different locations throughout the Flagstaff area will be featured from February 1-28. The month-long, nationally recognized festival began about 15 years ago as a fun-filled way to introduce visitors to Flagstaff's pristine, mountain play land. Winterfest has grown to include sled dog races, Nordic and Alpine skiing competitions, snowboard and snowshoe activities, snowmobile drag racing, stargazing, and special children’s activities.
