Tuba 50 Seton Catholic 41
The Tuba City Lady Warriors advanced to the semi-final round of the Arizona State 3A Basketball Championship Tournament with a 50-41 win over the Seton Catholic Lady Sentinels in Flagstaff on Wednesday.
Tuba City led 18-11 after the first period and 30-25 at the intermission. Seton Catholic had cut the margin to a single point at 37-36 after three periods. The Lady Warriors held Seton to five points in the final period as they secured the victory.
Tammie Secody led Tuba City in scoring with 12 points. Amy North added 10 points for the Lady Warriors. Mary Pacido shared game scoring honors with 12 points for Seton Catholic.
The Lady Warriors will continue defense of their title at 6:45 p.m. on Friday at America West Arena where they will meet the Monument Valley Lady Mustangs for the third time this season. The victor will meet the Winslow-Ganado winner at 2 p.m. on Saturday for the state championship.

In fact, all four 3A North Region (Enchantment Region) girls’ basketball teams survived the first two rounds of the Arizona State 3A Basketball Tournament in Flagstaff on Tuesday and Wednesday and will play in the semi-final round on Friday.
Winslow ousted Fountain Hills 67-45 on Wednesday after blistering Snowflake 59-40 on Tuesday. Ganado defeated Chino Valley 53-32 on Wednesday after eliminating Payson 51-33 on Tuesday. Monument Valley whipped Globe 67-48 on Wednesday after defeating Round Valley 77-57 on Tuesday.
In the girls’ bracket, Winslow will play Ganado at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Tuba City and Monument Valley will square off at 6:45 p.m. The winners will meet at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The Enchantment Region placed two boys’ teams in the semi-final round. Monument Valley earned its spot with a 62-49 win over Safford after a 55-47 victory over Alchesay. The Mustangs will meet Coolidge at 5 p.m. on Friday. The Bears earned their spot in the semi-finals with a 74-65 victory over Blue Ridge following a 78-63 win over Chino Valley.
The Tuba City Warriors will continue to defend their crown against the Wickenburg Roughriders at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors defeated Dysart 76-55 on Wednesday after besting Round Valley 84-51 in the opening round. Wickenburg ousted Enchantment Region member Winslow 63-59 on Wednesday after thumping Globe 76-61 on Tuesday.
