Ganado At Winslow Winter Classic

The Ganado Lady Hornets completed play in the Winslow Winter Classic Tournament with a 2-2 record.

The Lady Hornets opened play in the Winslow Winter Classic with a 59-36 loss to the Seton Catholic Lady Sentinels on Thursday. Jolene Benally was in double figures for Ganado with 12 points. Seton Catholic had three players in double figures led by Alana Wirth with 18 points. Joanna Usher and Christina Wirth each had 12 points for the Lady Sentinels.

Ganado defeated the Flagstaff Lady Eagles 60-53 in their first game on Friday. Melissa Peterson led the Lady Hornets with 16 points. Tashina Baker was also in double figures with 10 points. Rhiannon Baca led Flagstaff with 19 points.

The Lady Hornets won for the second time on Friday when they bested the Chinle Lady Wildcats 63-47. Melissa Peterson had 22 points for Ganado and Jolene Benally was also in double figures with 19 points.

Mariah Johnson had 21 points for Chinle. The Snowflake Lady Lobos defeated Ganado 48-43 for ninth place in the tournament. Jolene Benally led Ganado with 15 points. Nicole Simmon with 19, Maigan Perkins with 16 and Talia Johnson with 10 points were all in double figures for Snowflake.

Melissa Peterson was named to the Winslow Winter Classic All Tournament Team.
