Winslow Bulldogs 71<br>Ganado Hornets 67

The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Ganado Hornets 71-67 in an Enchantment Region (3A North) basketball game played on Thursday at Ganado.

The victory left the Bulldogs with a record of 5-3 for the season and 2-0 in the region.

The Bulldogs trailed after every period and needed a 25-point fourth quarter to overtake the Hornets and escape with the victory.

Ganado led 21-13 after the first period, but saw the margin cut to 35-28 at the intermission and 51-46 after three periods.

Bryan Curtis led all scorers with 29 points for Winslow, including seven three-point shots.

Shane Garnett with 14 points, Seth Davis with 12 and Evander Lee with 11 were all also in double figures for the Bulldogs.

Lavon Salabye and Kasey Bluehouse each scored 23 for Ganado.

Manuel Rice was also in double digits with 10 points.

Salabye, like Curtis, canned seven three-point shots. Bluehouse scored 19 of his points in the second half and 10 in the fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs margin of victory came from the charity stripe where they were eight of 19. Ganado was only three of eight from the line.

The Bulldogs next action will be on Thursday in the opening round of the Pepsi Invitational Tournament in Flagstaff.

The tournament will continue through Friday and Saturday and feature some of the finest high school basketball teams in the state.

Winslow has two more games after that before the holiday break

The Bulldogs will play regional games at Holbrook on Tuesday against the Roadrunners and at home on Dec. 21 against the Tuba City Warriors.

The team will then be off until Jan. 8, 2002, when they meet the Payson Longhorns at Payson.
