Tuba City’s KGHR Radio Hosts Dzil Libei Cultural Choir

If you are in the listening area of KGHR radio, which serves the Western Navajo agency, both Moencopi villages and San Juan Paiute reservation areas, Tuba City’s only community radio station, located at 91.5 FM, you will hear the young voices of a very special choir.

The Dzil Libei Cultural Choir directed by Linda Kerley, Navajo language instructor  assisted by Nancy Dohi, Library assistant, have incorporated Christmas songs with the Navajo language.   A select 15 students, who were recommended by Dzil Libei staff make up this cultural vocal group.

KGHR, understands the importance of supporting local cultural and community groups, as well as assisting both school districts located in Tuba City.

This public radio station agreed to host TC District students for an educational field trip about radio stations which concluded with a taping of their Christmas songs for local air-play.

Darrin Elmer and Craig Brownell, both KGHR management, were present to greet students, parents and one grandmother who came to support this group, along with Cameron/Gap School’s Principal Richard Bermudes.
