Washington, D.C. - The House approved by voice vote a resolution offered by Congressman J. D. Hayworth urging Americans to observe Native American Heritage Month during November by recognizing the accomplishments and contributions of native peoples.
Hayworth’s concurrent resolution encourages all levels of government, interested groups and organizations, and individual citizens “to honor and recognize the accomplishments, contributions, and heritage of Native Americans with appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities.”
“America is richly blessed by the enduring legacy of the First Americans, whose patriotism, purpose and values have guided the course of our national history,” Congressman Hayworth said in a speech before the House. “It is incumbent on each of us to ensure that all the actions of this federal government appropriately observe and celebrate the spirit of Native American Heritage Month.”
