NAU Hosts Pecos Conference <br>Navajo And Hopi Students Fire Pots

Two Northern Arizona University (NAU) students, Ora Marek and Lanell Poseyesva, took part in pottery firing at the annual Pecos Conference held in Flagstaff. The four-day event took place August 9-12.

The students made the ceramic pots under the supervision of computer graphics specialist Tim Wilcox. Wilcox and the students work at the Navajo Nation Archaeology Department (NNAD) at the university.

Wilcox has been making pottery since he was ten years old. He uses a variety of clays, many of them used by ancient potters. When they heard the Pecos Conference was going to be held in Flagstaff this year, Wilcox and the students decided to spend some time making their pots.
