Winslow’s Visitor Center Moving To Downtown Area<br>

Winslow’s Visitor Center will be relocating from its present hop, skip and jump off Interstate 40 to downtown Winslow this December.

Currently, tourists visit the Center on North Park Drive just North of the I-40 exit.

Dan Simmons, Chamber of Commerce President, in a meeting with City Councilmen Tom McCauley and Harold Soehner and City Administrator John Roche, said it was concluded that the city would be willing to work with the Chamber of Commerce in the move. The center is now in a city-owned building, so the city takes care of all the maintenance, cleaning and insurance.

“We aren’t sure if they [the city] is going to continue to offer the services,” Simmons said.

Simmons also said the new downtown location would have to be identified before talks about funding could continue.

“We’ve given ourselves six months to get everything planned,” Simmons said.
