Organization and Citizen of the Year

Organization of the Year - Just Cruis'n

Just Cruis'n Car Club members accept the certificate naming the club Organization of the Year for 2001. Left-Right: Charles McLaws, Club President Jim Pate, Gary Muchmore and Larry Pearsall. Just Cruis'n holds a car show each fall that attracts some 3,000 visitors to Winslow. The club's giving includes scholarships, Little League, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, the Winslow Fireworks, the Relay For Life and more. They dedicated the award to Duane Miller, who helped start the club.

Citizen of the Year - Bob Hall

Bob Hall (left) of As You Like It was announced as Citizen of the Year by by Dean Brenda Manthei of NPC at the Rotary club lunch April 4. Hall was nominated for his many projects helping others in Winslow, including the Festival of Trees held in December as a fundraiser for the Family Resource Center.

The Winslow Rotary Club asks for nominations for Organization and Citizen of the Year and makes a selection from those nominated. This year Brenda Manthei headed the committee which selected Just Cruis'n Car CLub as the Organization of the Year and Bob Hall as the Citizen of the Year.

Hall has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce Board and co-chair of the Christmas Parade, he also plans and puts on the Festival of Trees as a benefit for the Family Resource Center. His letter of nomination also said that he is involved in many charitable works in Winslow. Manthei said that the committee considered the long-term nature of a candidates contributions in making a selection. "We want people who will continue to make contributions to Winslow," she said.
