Rodeo canceled

The Navajo Nation Rodeo Cowboys Association, NNRCA announced that the following rodeo has been canceled due to an emergency: The Williams Rodeo, October 6-8.

Taekwondo classes

Taekwondo classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesday at the Greyhills Academy High School in the East culture room. There will be three different sessions. Session I starts at 3:45- 5:15 p.m., Session II will begin at 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. and Session III will be at 7:15- 8:45 p.m.

The instructor is Brian Laban of the Black Belt Academy in Nogales, Arizona. The fee is $25 a month per person. Sessions are open to the general public. Everyone is welcomed to come to the classes and complete a registration form.

Chuska Challenge Mountain Bike Tour

The 6th annual Chuska Challenge mountain bike tour will take place in the Navajo Nation's Chuska Mountains in October.

The tour, a fully-supported event, includes two days of biking in some of the reservation's finest high country on October 7 and 8. Views on the ride extend across the Four Corners region as bikers travel through the mountain meadows and scenic valleys of the Chuska Range, which is located on the Arizona/New Mexico border. The ride begins and ends at the Tsaile, Arizona campus of Dine' College, where meals and lodging are available on the evening of the 6th.

Riders will be treated to full break stations and day guides along the route, hearty meals throughout the weekend, spectacular campsites and native entertainment.

The ride benefits Tour de Rez Treks, a non-profit organization that provides outdoor adventure programs for youth on the Navajo Nation.

Basketball Shootout

The 22nd Annual Phoenix Suns Basketball Shoot-Out to benefit Easter Seals Arizona will be held at America West Arena on Sunday, October 29, 2000. Shoot-Out Chairman Penny Hardaway invites all schools and organizations to register so their students can attend. Activities include meeting Suns players, photos taken with players, autograph sessions, tours of the locker room, skills clinics, three-point contests, food, fun and excitement as well as the Shoot-Out by participating students. Thousands of prizes will be won by the participants including Suns jerseys, warm-up suits, official Jason Kidd Olympic jerseys, caps, trophies, Suns tickets, Jr. Suns memberships, and much more from the Suns Team Shop.

Participating schools and organizations can win Suns tickets, sports equipment, school supplies, computers, printers, software, Southwest Airlines tickets, a cruise for two and more.
