of ears

On May 18 at 4 p.m., Martha Blue lectures from her new book, Indian Trader: The Life and Times of J.L. Hubbell. The topic will be “Eighty-four Pairs of Ears: Don Lorenzo Hubbell’s Hispanic Heritage,” and is offered free as part of the Museum of Northern Arizona and NAU’s Colloquia on the Colorado Plateau. Country Dance

A country dance featuring the Blue Canyon Gand will be held at the LDS Mormon Church in Polacca on May 19 at 8 p.m. Free. An alcohol/drug free event.

High School Graduations

Greyhills High School commencement exercises will be held May 19 at 1 p.m. Guest speakers are Mr. Peterson Zah and President Kelsey Begaye.

Tuba City High School commencement exercises will be held on May 20 at 1 p.m. (DST) at Warrior’s Pavilion on the corner of Edgewater and Warrior Drive.

Manley A. Begay, Jr., Ed.D., a former graduate of Tuba City High, will serve as the keynote speaker.

Song & Dance

2nd Annual Tódí Néesh Zhee’ Singers contest song and dance on May 20, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. registration & 1 p.m. grand entry D.S.T. at the Old High School gym in Kayenta AZ. Children under 6 yrs old free, students $2.50 and adults $3.50. MC. Albert Nelson, Jr. and Alger Greyeyes. Contest for group singers and dancers, all invited. Awards, concessions, door prizes, raffle and cakewalk.

New High School enrollment

A new high school (grades 9-12), located on the campus of Seba Dalkai, is now accepting applications for the school year beginning this autumn. Dedicated to offering the most effective educational programs, the school will provide a broad range from technological training to teaching the Navajo culture.
