Bulldogs take on Hopi, Pinon, MVHS
Winslow 61 Hopi 48
The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Hopi Bruins 61-48 in a non-conference basketball game played on Wednesday in Winslow. The victory gave the Bulldogs a record of 5-7 for the season.
The Bulldogs led 13-8 after the first period but Hopi had rallied to tie the score at 29-29 by the intermission. Winslow built a 46-39 lead during the third period and expanded it to secure the victory during the final frame.
Seth Davis paced Winslow with 20 points. Ronald Jones with 12 points and Heston Yazzie with 10 were also in double digits for the Bulldogs.
Davin Leslie took game high honors with 26 points for the Bruins including seven three pointers for 21 of those points.

Bulldogs 53 Pinon 28
The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Pinon Eagles 53-28 in an Enchantment Region basketball game played on Thursday in Winslow. The win left Winslow with a record of 6-7 for the season and 1-1 in the Enchantment Region.
The Bulldogs led after every period and held Pinon scoreless for the first 11 minutes of the second half on their way to the victory. The lead was 17-9 after the first period, 26-17, at the intermission and 42-17 after three periods.
Seth Davis paced the Bulldogs with 15 points. Heston Yazzie was also in double figures with 10 points for Winslow.
Fernando Begay led Pinon with 11 points.

Monument Valley 78 Winslow 53
The Monument Valley Mustangs defeated the Winslow Bulldogs 78-53 in an Enchantment Region basketball game played in Kayenta on Dec. 22. The loss left the Bulldogs with a record of 6-8 for the season and 1-2 in the Enchantment Region. Monument Valley improved to 9-2 for the season and 3-0 in the region. This was the second time the two teams have met and completed their regular season competition with each other.
Monument Valley broke open a close game in the second period when they expanded a 15-13 first period lead to 38-26 at the intermission. The lead was 56-38 after three periods of play.
Seth Davis was the game's high scorer with 19 points for Winslow, but was the only Bulldog to score in double figures.
Monument Valley had four players in double figures led by Kevin Tallman with 14 points. Bert Jones scored 11 points and Troy Watson and Loren Walls each added 10 for the victors.
Winslow will resume action on Jan. 9 when they meet the Window Rock Scouts at Window Rock.

The Winslow Lady Bulldogs defeated the Hopi Lady Bruins 56-30 in a non-conference basketball game played in Winslow on Wednesday. The victory left Winslow with a record of 10-2 for the season and 1-0 in the Enchantment Region.
Winslow led after every period as they steadily pulled away from the Lady Bruins. The first period ended with Hopi still looking to get on the scoreboard as Winslow led 19-0. It was 24-15 at the half and 41-19 after three periods.
Francine McCurtain paced the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points. She was the only player from either team to finish in double figures.

The Winslow Lady Bulldogs defeated the Pinon Lady Eagles 68-43 in an Enchantment Region basketball game played on Thursday in Winslow. The victory left Winslow with a record of 12-2 for the season and 2-0 in the region. It was the first Enchantment Region game for Pinon.
Winslow led after each period after jumping to a 21-10 first quarter lead. The margin was 41-20 at the half and 64-31 after three periods.
Francine McCurtain paced a balanced Winslow scoring attack with 19 points. Lexine Jensen with 15 points, Nicole Begaii with 12 and Faith Carpenter with 10 were all in double figures for the Lady Bulldogs.
Fawn Gene was the game high scorer with 25 points for the Lady Eagles.

Lady Dogs 52 Monument Valley 48
The Winslow Lady Bulldogs defeated the Monument Valley Lady Mustangs 52-48 in an Enchantment Region basketball game played in Kayenta on Dec. 22. The victory left Winslow with a record of 13-2 for the season and 3-0 in the Enchantment Region. Monument Valley fell to 10-4 and 1-3. The win was an important one for Winslow as it gave them a regular season sweep over one of the stronger contenders in the Enchantment Region.
Winslow led after every quarter in the competitive contest. The Lady Bulldogs were up 12-10 after the first period, 23-22 at the intermission and 41-32 after three periods. Francine McCurtain led all scorers with 25 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Faith Carpenter was also in double figures with 14 points for the victors.
Miranda Todachine with 12 points and Billie Granson with 11 were both in double figures for the Lady Mustangs.
The Lady Bulldogs will not see action again until they meet the surprising Window Rock Lady Scouts on Jan. 9 in Window Rock.
