Lock your car!
Winslow is having a rash of vehicle break-ins
The close readers of the police reports carried weekly in the Mail may have noticed the large number of thefts from vehicles in the last few weeks. Sometimes the theft was unsuccessful, but the crime is listed as criminal damage since marks were left behind where someone tried to pry out a stereo.

Most of the losses have been of electronics. The Winslow Police Department urges everyone to lock their car. It was also suggested that if your car stereo or CD player is removable, take it out at night. If it is not removable, unscrew it and take down the model and serial numbers so the police can identify it, if it is stolen.

If possible, park under a street light, or in a lighted area at night. Report any suspicious activities to the police. You do not have to leave you name.

An investigations officer said that neighbors need to band together to look out for each other's property. This really cuts down on the chances that anyone can steal anything.

These thefts from vehicles have occurred in every part of Winslow. They will stop for a day or two, then there is another rash of break-ins. The police department is continuing to investigate. Many of the break-ins have occurred in unlocked vehicles. This makes it easy for the crook and harded to get insurance reimbursement.
