Hopi Youth Council Vacancies

The Hopi Youth Council announces the following vacancies: Upper Moenkopi (1),Lower Moenkopi (2), Kykotsmovi Village (1), Sipaulovi (1), Sichomovi (1), Walpi (2), Hotevilla (2), Shungopavi (1), Tewa (1), Member-at-large (1)

Health and Fitness Safari

The Eighth Annual Children’s Health & Fitness Safari at the Rio Grande Zoological Park will be held on August 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Free immunizations to children under 18 who bring their shot records. With a special coupon, two children 12 and under will get in free for the price of one adult admission, $4.50. In the event of rain, the event will be held Sunday, August 13.

Native American Art Contest

The “My Native Grand Canyon” Native American Contest, sponsored by Canyon Forest Village, encourages all Native American youth ages 10-18 years old to entry their artwork. First place winner receives a cash prize of $150, second place, $100 and third place, $50. There will be three winners in each age group, which will be divided into 10-12 year olds, 13-15 year olds, and 16-18 year olds. The deadline is Tuesday, August 15. Grazing Meeting

On Thursday, August 10, the District #3 Grazing Meeting (W.N.A.) will meet at 10 a.m. at the Bodaway/Gap Chapter.

Electronic Commerce Training/ Tuba City

A training for federal contracting in the information age, marketing on the internet, and learning how a small disadvantage business programs can assist firms in growing, will be held on Tuesday, August 15 at the BIA Agency Building behind the Post Office in Tuba City The training will start at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is only limited to 35 people. Electric Commerce Training/Hopi

The First Mesa Consolidated Villages is hosting an Electronic Commerce Training, which will be held on Wednesday, August 16 at Hopi High School in Polacca Arizona.

At 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. sessions will include, “Marketing on the Internet”. and Web Page Development. Public Hearing Meetings Regarding Low-Income Energy Assistance

Several public hearing regarding Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), will be held at the following locations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tuba City Chapter— Wednesday, August 15

(For Tuba City, Tonalea, Bodaway/Gap, Cameron, and Coalmine).

Kaibeto Chapter — Thursday, August 16

(For Kaibeto, Coopermine, LeChee, Inscription House, Navajo Mountain, and Shonto).

Leupp Chapter — Friday, August 17

(For Kayenta, Chilchinbeto, Dennehotso, and Olijeto).

Solar Energy Meeting

All ASEA members and those interested in solar alternatives, there will be a meeting of the Northern Arizona Solar Energy Association on Tuesday, August 22 , at 7 p.m. In room 332 of the Engineering Building at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.

The guest speaker, Ben Mancini, will speak about Design of Solar Thermal Systems.
