Tuhisma Hopi Arts and Crafts Market in October

Tuhisma, the 15th annual Hopi Arts and Craft Market, sponsored by the Hopi Pu'tavi Project, takes place Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hopi Veterans Memorial Center in Kykotsmovi, Ariz. Tuhisma has a large gathering of Hopi artists featuring authentic art, cultural entertainment, food and more.

American Indian Tourism Conference Sept. 13-17

The American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association (AIANTA) proudly presents the 17th Annual American Indian Tourism Conference (AITC) "Introducing America's Native Nations to the World," hosted by the Southern Ute Tribe of Colorado at the Sky Ute Casino Resort in Ignacio, CO, Sept. 13 - 17.

The annual AITC provides attendees with a quality educational forum for tribes and organizations with travel and tourism initiatives. As tradition, the conference will kick off with a once in a lifetime experience, exploring the culture and history of our host and surrounding tribes and cultures through interactive mobile workshops. This year the workshops will feature a tour of Mesa Verde National Park, a tour of Chimney Rock National Monument and Southern Ute Tribal Campus, and the Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Durango Tour.

Tawaaki Run Oct. 4

The Tawaaki Run, sponsored by the Hopi Special Diabetes Program, takes place Oct. 4 at the Hopi Veterans Memorial Center, located at Highway 264, milepost 375.5, northeast of Kykotsmovi Village.

The run theme is Lolmat'ovi Nanamungwa, "Celebrating the Hopi Running Tradition."

The half marathon starts at 7 a.m., fee: $30, the 10K starts at 7:20 a.m., fee: $20 and the 8K starts at 7:30 a.m., fee: $20.

On Oct. 3, a pre-race spaghetti dinner will take place. Participants can register and pick up packets at that time as well.

The first 100 half marathon finishers will receive a Taawaki medal. Final registration for the half marathon is Oct. 3. The 10K and 8K fee registation fee will increase to $25 on the day of the event.

New construction phase for U.S. 89 and Haul Road roundabout began Aug. 10

Traffic will be diverted on the west side of the roundabout for the next few weeks.

Construction is well underway on the roundabout at U.S. 89 and Haul Road in Page with a new phase starting Aug. 10.
