Winslow Lady Billdogs volleyball team to scrimmage Aug. 28, season to include three tournaments

WINSLOW, Ariz. - The Winslow Lady Bulldogs volleyball team will play host to a preseason scrimmage with three other teams Aug. 28.

The team is coached by Rinell Heister and Liz McLaws, both of whom have considerable experience coaching the sport although they are new to this position. The team will have at least 19 events on its schedule including three tournaments.

The first match is Sept. 1 at Fountain Hills with both varsity and junior varsity matches. The teams will return home Sept. 3 to play host to the Holbrook Lady Roadrunners in freshman, junior varsity and varsity matches. As in all home matches the freshmen will play at 4 p.m., the junior varsity at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6 p.m.

The varsity will go to Payson Sept. 4 and 5 for the Payson Invitational Tournament. Sept. 8 the Hopi Lady Bruins will come to Winslow for matches. On Sept. 10 Central High School teams will be in Winslow for matches.

The Lady Bulldogs will journey to Mingus High School to play the Lady Marauders on Sept. 15. The team will be on the road Sept. 18 and 19 for the Snowflake Invitational Tournament.

A home court match with Northland Prep Sept. 22 will split two tournament weekends. The Mustang Tournament at Monument Valley High School in Kayenta will be Sept. 25 and 26.

Winslow will play host to the next three matches with Greyhills Academy Sept. 29, the Page Lady Sand Devils Oct. 1 and the Window Rock Lady Scouts Oct. 6.

The Lady Bulldogs will be on the road at Tuba City Oct. 8 to meet the Lady Warriors and at Payson Oct. 13 to play the Lady Longhorns.

The Ganado Lady Hornets will come to Winslow Oct. 15. The Lady Bulldogs will journey to Holbrook on Oct. 20 to meet the Lady Roadrunners.

Winslow will play host to the Snowflake Lady Lobos Oct. 22 and journey to Pinetop to meet the Blue Ridge Lady Yellowjackets Oct. 27. The last regular season match will be at Winslow Oct. 29 against the Show Low Lady Cougars.
