Nizhoni Ward named Jr. Miss Indian Chicago

Nizhoni Ward, 8, was crowned Sept. 14 as the American Indian Center (AIC) Jr. Miss Indian Chicago 2013-14. Ward, originally from Tuba City, also plays tackle football and designs native urban clothing with her mother LeAnn Hascon. The two were featured designers Sept. 7 at the Indian Summerfest Milwaukee festival. Ward is featured in the 2013 children's Red Land Nativez calendar and is a positive role model to her peers. Her clans are Zuni Edgewater born for Caucasian, her maternal grandfathers are Start of the Red Streak People clan and paternal grandfathers are Oklahoma Choctaw.
