Lady Bulldogs top Snowflake and Holbrook

Team now 11-2 for season

The Winslow Lady Bulldogs began the second half of their season with a pair of easy wins over Snowflake in Snowflake Jan. 4 and over Holbrook in Winslow Jan. 5.

The Winslow Lady Bulldogs defeated the Snowflake Lady Lobos 57-28. The win improved Winslow's record to 10-2 for the season.

The game was never in doubt as Winslow sped to an 18-4 lead in the first quarter and was up 30-14 at the half and 45-22 after three quarters of play.

Winslow's Mattea Begaii led all scorers with 12 points. Shandiin Armao also scored in double figures with 10 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Jessica Neff and Charli Flake led Snowflake with eight points each.

On Saturday the Winslow Lady Bulldogs defeated the Holbrook Lady Roadrunners 68-37 in Winslow. The win improved Winslow's record to 11-2 for the season and dropped Holbrook's to a still impressive 16-5.

The Lady Bulldogs started strong and had a 17-5 lead after the first quarter. The margin was 37-22 at the half and 53-36 after three quarters.

Only four players scored for Winslow but all four of them were in double figures. Halle Hayes scored a game high 23 points. Shandiin Armao scored 19 points for the Lady Bulldogs and Mattea Begaii was just a point behind knocking in 18 points. Marcella Joe completed Winslow's scoring with eight points. Brittany Baldwin led Holbrook with nine points.

Winslow will play the Flagstaff Lady Eagles in Flagstaff Wednesday. They will be at Ganado to play the Lady Hornets on Thursday and at Window Rock Jan. 15 to play the Lady Scouts.
