FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Kill two birds with one styling product on Sunday - get a new summer hairdo and donate to a good cause. Held at the Orpheum Theatre, located on 15 West Aspen Avenue, Flagstaff, the Hair Stock Festival offers four hours of peace, music and hair. The event starts at 2 p.m.

During the festival, The Shifters, Nolan & the Confounders, Joseph Langham, and Buckit will be offering up their musical stylings while Alley Cat Salon will use instruments of a sharper variety to cut and style your hair.

"The stylists at Alley Cat Salon are pretty amazing, they will do like 50 cuts in four hours," event organizer Cecilia Weining said, who created the event three years ago because she wanted to create a fun and unique way to donate her own hair.

"I wanted to give other people the opportunity to donate and I wanted to make a festival out of it," she said.

Proceeds and donated hair will benefit the Flagstaff Cancer Center Fund, Pantene Beautiful Lengths, who donates their wigs to women with cancer through the Cancer Society and Locks of Love who donates to children up to 18 years old.

"Within the last two years we have sent 155 locks of hair to either Pantene Beautiful Lengths or Locks of Love," Weining said.

Weining added that any monetary proceeds will go to Northern Arizona Cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy for immediate needs such as gas and prescriptions. The event has aided patients from Ash Fork to Holbrook and all over the reservation.

While scissors and hair fly, silent auctions and activities for young ones will be in full swing. Local restaurants Salsa Brava and NiMarcos Pizza will provide food.

The silent auction items feature gift certificates from local establishments, and the lucky winner of the raffle will receive a 16 gig Ipad 2. Second place will win an Ipod shuffle.

Also, for the first time ever, Hair Stock is offering a $100 cash prize to the person donates the "longest tail" during the hair-cutting extravaganza.

"Hair Stock gives you the opportunity to donate to a good cause," Weining said. "It's really a fun event."
