KYKOTSMOVI, Ariz. -  On Dec. 28, the Water Infrastructure Finance Authority (WIFA) of Arizona announced that Sipaulovi Village (Sipaulovi Water Association) of Second Mesa received WIFA's "Best Technical Assistance Project of the Year" award for demonstrating effective project management and successfully completing a water master plan.

Sipaulovi village administration and leaders, created a water advisory board to assist them in securing village support and to explore different funding options for their water and wastewater infrastructure needs.

As a result of their dedication and commitment to this project, Sipaulovi Village received a design and planning grant from WIFA in the amount of $35,000 to conduct a water master plan and determine necessary upgrades to help ensure public health and safety.

The award was presented during WIFA's Board of Directors meeting on Dec. 15 by WIFA's acting Board Chairman Henry Darwin, also Acting Director of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.

"We want to thank the residents of Sipaulovi for their enthusiastic support of this project and improving their water infrastructure now and for future generations," Darwin said.

WIFA provides communities and private water systems with access to low-interest financial assistance and technical help needed for basic water infrastructure.
