The pageant to select Miss Winslow Native American was held at Winslow High School in the Performing Arts Center on Oct. 4. A panel of five judges assessed the four contestants and crowned Felecia Gene "Miss Native American Winslow High School 2010-2011."
The contestants were judged on their speaking ability, Native dress, talent and poise. All the contestants were given prizes for participating. The moderator of the event was Sandra Grover, last year's winner who came up from Phoenix to participate. Also in attendance were Miss NAU Native American and the current Miss Navajo Nation.
After the pageant, a continuing celebration was held in the High School Student Union, which included food and speeches.
