Lady Bulldogs lose undefeated season at Chinle
Win streak means home court for state playoffs

CHINLE, Ariz. - The Winslow Lady Bulldogs saw their undefeated season erased on Saturday at Chinle when they were defeated 61-53 by the Monument Valley Lady Mustangs in the 3A North Region championship game.

The Lady Bulldogs saw their record fall to 26-1 for the season. Monument Valley improved to 18-9.

Winslow will host an Arizona State 3A Conference Championship Tournament game on Friday at 7 p.m. against Snowflake (3A East Region). The state playoff pairings were determined by power point totals. Results of district tournaments may not have affected those standings. Should Winslow defeat Snowflake on Saturday, they will likely host another playoff game the following Saturday.

Monument Valley led 10-9 after the first quarter and 26-21 at the intermission. The Lady Bulldogs rallied in the third quarter and had tied the score 41-41 at the end of that period. The Lady Mustangs enjoyed their most productive period in the fourth and final quarter.

Bradley Nash led all scorers with 29 points for Monument Valley. Crystal Todachine with 13 points and Destinee Holiday with 10 points were also in double figures for the Lady Mustangs.

Raquel Singer led Winslow with 14 points. Kourtney Shirley with 12 points and Chrissandria Jackson with 10 were also in double figures for the Lady Bulldogs.

Lady Bulldogs roll to finals with win over Window Rock

The Winslow Lady Bulldogs continued their undefeated season with a 53-25 victory over the Window Rock Lady Scouts in the semi-finals of the 3A North Region Tournament on Friday at Chinle.

The win was Winslow's 26th of the season without a defeat. Window Rock fell to 14-9 for the season.

The Lady Bulldogs were to meet Monument Valley, a 51-28 winner over Tuba City in the Championship Game on Saturday.

The Lady Bulldogs held Window Rock to single digit scoring in every period on their way to the victory. Winslow led 12-5 after the first quarter and a commanding 28-8 at the intermission. The lead was an astounding 41-16 entering the final period.

Samantha Sam led all scorers with 15 points for Winslow. Shernise Ward was also in double figures for the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points. Window Rock did not have a player with more than five points.
