Shoes have a bit of Native culture

To the editor:

My name is Deswood Sombrero. I am a 13-year-old eighth grader at Shonto Preparatory School. I am writing about the Nike Air Native N7 shoes. I think that the shoes are great.

They look like Sketchers I have to admit. Why does Nike just make them for Native Americans? I mean lots of people have wide feet. Besides, Nike is just trying to make a profit off us Natives. It is true that many of us can't afford shoes, though the wholesale is $48 to $50.

Some Natives don't even have money for electricity or water. Even though these shoes are really nice, they are pretty expensive. Many people may think the shoes have stupid designs with suns on them, but I think they are the coolest shoes I have ever seen with Indian designs.

In conclusion, I would like to say that the shoes are way cool for us. Many people maybe said its not but they're wrong. They may think it's just another shoe, but to others like me, it is a shoe that has a bit of our culture on it. It has design that reminds us of our traditions and the stories our elders told us.
