NHO staff: What are your New Year's resolutions?

Melissa Benny, Advertising

My New Year's resolutions are to:

1.) Work out More

2.) Eat Less

3.) Save money

4.) Move out of my parents house

5.) Buy a Louis Vuitton bag with matching shoes

Mike Carroll, Graphics/Classifieds

Webster's defines a resolution as "the act of or process of reducing to simpler form, resolving with firmness." It sounds strict because change is never easy but it is ultimately needed for growth. This year my Number One resolution is to concentrate and spend more one on one time with my children. They grow fast and I feel like I'm falling behind and I'd like to see them grow up some. Other then that I wish to be more conscious of my health so I can be around for a long time to enjoy my family and I'd like to lose some weight.

My New Year's resolutions are to:

1.) Quit smoking

2.) Lose weight and eat right

3.) Learn how to be more polite in Navajo and Hopi

Wells Mahkee Jr, Managing Editor

I resolve to keep a more open mind about certain world (and local) affairs in order that I might begin to truly understand why these events occur instead of cursing these events every time I see it covered on the daily news programs and newspapers.

I resolve to lose weight for the sake of my overall health and well-being. As a Native American, I realize that I am prone to developing diabetes, and after seeing how diabetes has affected my friends, relatives and other people I know, I resolve not to end up in the same predicament.

I resolve to learn more about different cultures and to make friends of different cultures, races, and religions because I have come to the realization that regardless of culture, race or religion that we are all ONE people of ONE nation.

I resolve to set aside some time each day for myself, so that I can reflect upon the events of the day and use what I've learned to make myself a better person.

I resolve to keep myself drug and alcohol free, simply because I've seen what drugs and alcohol can do to the bodies, minds and spirits of bright, intelligent people who often fight a daily battle of addiction that profoundly affects their loved ones.
