The Winslow boys' track team finished eighth and the girls' team finished 10th in the 3A North Indoor Invitational Track Meet held in Flagstaff on Thursday. Payson won the boys' meet with 65 points followed by Snowflake (61) and Blue Ridge (34). Winslow had 29 points to finish eighth. There were 15 teams in the meet. The girls' meet was won by Snowflake with 66.2 points to 54 for Blue Ridge and 52 for Monument Valley. Winslow had nine points.
Kyle Whitehair won Winslow's only individual championship with a victory in the 800 meters. He ran the race in a time of 2:04.95.
Winslow finished third in three events. Peter Armenta was third in the 400 meters. David Young was third in the shot put and the Winslow 4X400 meter relay team finished third. Paul Guzman finished sixth in the pole vault.
Alannah Alexander finished fourth in the girls' 60 meter dash. Haley Brooks was sixth in that race and in the triple jump. Mary C. Ricks finished sixth in both the 1500 meters and the 3000 meters. Nalene Gene finished sixth in the shot put.
The Winslow track teams will compete in the Mohave Invitational at Bullhead City on Saturday and host a multi-team meet with Ganado, Snowflake, Greyhills, Hopi and Blue Ridge on Wed., March 14.
