FLAGSTAFF-The Raymond Educational Foundation handed the Coconino Community College Foundation (CCCF) a giant $25,000 check to help students pay for college. The gift will allow the college to offer 25 $1,000 scholarships this year.

"Because of the Raymond Foundation's continued support, we are able to award scholarships to more students than ever before," said Lisa Hill, assistant director for student financial assistance. "This is a significant contribution because of the number of students it reaches, and because it helps directly with costs associated with college."

To be eligible for the scholarship funds, students must be Coconino County residents, have at least a nine-hour credit load and maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Preference is given to graduates of high schools within Coconino County.

"Doctor Raymond's vision for the Foundation was to make possible higher education for students of Coconino County," said Tom Montfort, Raymond Educational Foundation president. "CCC's mission fits perfectly with his vision. The Raymond Educational Foundation will continue to play a major role in scholarships for our community college students."

The Raymond Foundation is a long-time supporter of the college. This gift comes after last year's $15,000 contribution.

"Without this kind of support, many of our students would not be able to begin or continue their education here," said CCCF director Robert Erb. "The Raymond Foundations's past and current generosity has helped many students realize their academic potential, which has played an important role in becoming responsible and productive citizens in this and other communities."

"CCC is such a significant resource for promoting higher education in Coconino County," said Bill Cordasco, member of the Raymond Educational Foundation Board of Directors. "CCC is providing an opportunity for students leaving their high school years to have an option in pursuing their educational goals. It is appropriate and important for the Raymond Foundation to be supporting such a wonderful organization."

The Raymond Educational Foundation made their check presentation to the college at on July 12. For more information, contact CCC at (928) 527-1222.
