Coconino County Black History Month Essay Contest

The Coconino County African American Advisory Council presents the Fourth Annual Black History Month Essay Contest for students in grade 7 - 12. This year's topic is: "Contributions of African Americans in the West."

Entries must be no more than 500 words and typed or legibly handwritten. Essays will be judged on content, clarity of expression, originality and proper use of language and grammar. Eligible participants include students attending a public, private, charter or parochial school, students participating in a high school correspondence program, and home schooled students.

Entry forms are available at Local schools, Flagstaff Public Library, and at All entries must be received by Feb. 9.
