Three new online degree programs offer CCC students more flexibility

Students can stay at home in their pajamas while earning two-year degrees if they so choose. Coconino Community College now is offering three online degrees: Associate of General Studies; Associate of Arts in General Studies; and, Associate of Arts in Elementary Education.

"We are excited to be able to expand our educational opportunities to learners at a distance," said CCC Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Kathleen Corak. "The offering of degrees and certificates online makes higher education more accessible and affordable to our students and improves their employment prospects." The ability to offer online degrees has been made possible through two U.S. Department of Education Title III grants totaling $4.2 million. The grants emphasize student retention and distance learning. Much of the funding, shared with Northland Pioneer College, was used to build the technology infrastructure, develop courses and create on-line student support services such as tutoring and advising.

Students also have the opportunity to earn the Computer Software Technology certificate and the Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) certificate online. The AGEC certificate forms the basis for baccalaureate degrees and transfers to the state's public universities.
