Creativity, art and music are valued special programs at Tuba City Unified School District, and the TC Junior High is no exception when it comes to providing support and guidance to students who show high creative promise and aptitude.

Alan Jim, TC Junior High's art teacher, is a Native award-winning artist and creative personality in his own personal time who strongly encourages his students to pursue additional art interests outside of his regularly assigned classroom projects.

Three of Jim's gifted art students, Trina Blackhat, Tylar Bia and Natalie Franklin wanted to create a special bulletin board in the art wing building of TC junior high that would reflect a contemporary theme of current reservation area events and popular subject matter.

Taking newspaper articles, "found object" collage materials and their own personal comments of what events were featured, these three young women created a bulletin board that shared what they found interesting in both reservation area and off-reservation area news.

Jim thought their creative spark and incentive was "brilliant" and hopes that his other students take these three young women's art inspiration to heart in their classroom and home projects.
