Greyhills' fourth quarter rally topples Lady Bruins

TUBA CITY -- Greyhills had a fourth quarter rally to come from behind and beat Hopi, 43-40, in girls high school basketball action Jan. 31.

Hopi led for three quarters before Greyhills rallied in the final period.

Nizhoni Huber topped the Lady Knights with 21 points, Junice Sanders tossed in eight points, Shantelle Slim netted five points, Brook Deschenie chipped in with four points, Jenny Nockideneh had a deuce and Chambray Lane hit a foul shot.

Nadia Nelson paced Hopi with 15 points, Deidra Jones tossed in 10 points, Tracy Honanie and Marleita Burbank chipped in with four points apiece, Candace Pocheoma and Rozanna Nasafotie added three points each and Carrie Sakeva had a deuce.

Nelson fired in five points and Jones added four as Hopi led 10-7 after the first quarter. Huber netted all seven of Greyhills points in the opening period.

Nelson and Jones led Hopi with three points apiece in the second period as the Lady Bruins led at intermission 18-15. Huber scored three points for Greyhills in the second quarter to keep the Lady Knights close.

Honanie fired in four points and Nasafotie, Jones, Nelson and Pocheoma had three points apiece as Hopi continued to lead 34-29 after three quarters.

Huber poured in eight points during the third period for Greyhills.

The Lady Knights outscored Hopi 14-6 in the final quarter to pull out the victory. Slim netted five points and Huber three to lead the rally. Nelson scored four points during the final period to keep the Lady Bruins close.
