Fireworks display hits fundraising mark

Dan Simmons, one of the organizers of the 2005 Winslow Fourth of July Fireworks Display, said that due to donations collected at Emil Nasser Stadium during the show enough money was raised to cover the cost this year with $20 to put toward next year's display.

The 2005 show began with all eyes on the American flag and all ears on Mary Alice and Brenda Hayes singing the National Anthem.

David and Laurie Mace emceed the show, which was hosted again by the Winslow Fire Department.

The annual show is the culmination of efforts by the Winslow Unified School District, City of Winslow, many businesses, the Police Department, Barbara and Mariah Flickenger, Michelle Simmons and, of course, all the residents who donated to the free show.
