Winslow Police Log July 3-8

The Winslow Police Department responded to the following incidents during the week of July 3-8. This is not a complete list of calls that officers answered. Unless otherwise noted, all charged suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

July 4

Arrest

Police arrested Dorthea Mills on five counts of child abuse and two counts of resisting arrest at 2:03 a.m.

What a pane

A woman living on the 400 block of E. Second Street found the windshield of her truck had been removed. She found it 20 feet from the vehicle and it had been damaged.

July 5

Burglary

A house on the 1400 block of N. Berton had been burglarized. The homeowner said several things were missing including guns.

July 6

Argument heats up

A woman called police and reported her boyfriend and brother were fighting over turning off the cooler, according to the report. The brother, Raymond Baca, 19, was charged with criminal damage. He allegedly smashed the boyfriend's car with a tire iron causing an estimated $500 in damages.

Rouge rogues

A 15-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy were caught attempting to shoplift cosmetics from Wal-Mart. Both were released to their grandmother. The girl reportedly had $6.61 in makeup and the boy had $17.13 worth.

Lights out

Police received a report about three boys shooting out streetlights with a BB gun. Police arrested the three and later released them to their parents. Lights on Prairie and on Aspinwall were damaged. The matter is under investigation.

Police reported eight fireworks violations on the Fourth of July and one on the fifth. Police also received three calls regarding animals, 11 disorderly conduct calls, 24 trespassing calls, seven assaults or domestic violence calls, responded to 24 medical emergencies and issued 22 traffic tickets or warnings.
