The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Pinon Eagles 53-39 in a 3A North Region basketball game played at Pinon on Saturday. The win improved Winslow’s record for the season to 14-4 and to 6-1 in the region.
Pinon led through the first two periods, jumping out to a 14-8 first quarter advantage and still holding a 23-20 lead at the intermission. Winslow used a good third quarter to take a 37-32 lead going into the final period. The Bulldogs continued to pull away in the fourth quarter to win the contest.
Three Bulldogs finished in double figures led by Lucas Armenta who tallied his season high 14 points. Andrew Taliman and Carlos Quezada each scored 10 points.
Sean Gee took game scoring honors with 15 points for Pinon. Troy Tachine was also in double figures for the Eagles with 12 points.
Winslow was slated to host Window Rock on Monday and Hopi on Tuesday before playing Greyhills at Tuba City on Thursday. The Bulldogs will be at Window Rock on Saturday and will return home to host Pinon on Monday, Jan. 31 and Ganado on Tuesday, Feb. 1.

Bulldogs 65, Mustangs 60
The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Monument Valley Mustangs 65-60 in a 3A North Region basketball game played in Winslow on Friday. The win left Winslow with a 14-3 record for the season and a 5-1 mark in the region. Monument Valley fell to 5-14 for the season and 1-7 in the region.
Winslow led the entire game, but saw a once commanding lead dwindle to two points midway through the final quarter before pulling away in the closing seconds. The Bulldogs led 19-11 after the first period, 37-30 at the intermission and 51-40 after three quarters.
Andrew Taliman and Russell Thomas each scored 15 points for Winslow and shared game high honors with Aaron Notah-Smith who had 15 points for Monument Valley. Fernando Cook was also in double digits with 12 points for the Mustangs.

Bulldogs 54, Hornets 47
The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Ganado Hornets 54-47 in a 3A North Region basketball game played at Ganado on Jan. 18. Ganado fell to 10-10 for the season and 3-4 in the region.
The Bulldogs used a tight third period defense to break a 32-32 half-time tie and take a 43-37 lead into the final period. Ganado had led 21-18 after the first period.
Jordan Payne was the only Bulldog in double figures with 13 points. Remigio Sells scored nine for the victors. Vermeil Lowe was the only Hornet in double digits with 14 points.
