Urges support for Freedom of Information Act <br>

On Feb. 7, a resolution to oppose unconstitutional portions of the USA Patriot Act, called SCR 1031, was scheduled for debate in the Senate Judiciary Committee. This resolution would allow Arizona to join Hawaii, Alaska, Maine and Vermont, in addition to 365 communities across the nation in having passed anti-USA Patriot Act legislation.

Under the Patriot Act, we sacrifice freedom for the illusion of security.

Several guarantees made by the Bill of Rights and Freedom of Information Act have been compromised.

An assurance of civil liberties is not a threat to national security. In fact, it is a promise to the people of this great nation that our elected officials should strive to uphold.

We urge your readers to contact their representatives and issue a clear statement that we can only defend freedom by supporting our Bill of Rights.
