Tim and Jamie DeWitt recently presented the Winslow High School with an American Flag that was flown over Afghanistan by their son Brian, who is in the United States Air Force.

Brian, a WHS graduate, sent home the flag to be displayed, along with a plaque. The flag was flow on Sept. 10, 2005, during Operation Enduring Freedom for WHS.

During the Dec. 13 school board meeting, Superintendent Bob Mansell explained that Brian graduated at the top of his class.

"He's not just a pilot, he's a fighter pilot," Mansell said. "What a prestigious and honorable calling in the military. His parents should be very proud of him, I'm proud of him and the community is proud of him."
