Retired Army Colonel Caleb Johnson of the Hopi Tribe saluted the flag, standing at attention throughout the entire dedication of the new Veterans Center. Jessica Lynch can be seen behind Johnson. He is the highest-ranking living military official of the Hopi Tribe.

Lynch, from a small town in West Virginia, became the face of a young female American soldier and Piestewa became the Native American single mother soldier from a highly respected reservation.

The dream of a home

The brand new home built by Shea Homes out of California is nestled majestically below the San Francisco Peaks and is a sight to behold for even the most indulgent homeowner.

Eight years ago, Terry Piestewa’s request for a home site in Upper Moencopi was denied. Therefore, a physical location for the Extreme home had to be obtained.

The estimated $1 million home nestles majestically on six acres below the San Francisco Peaks is a sight to behold even for the most indulgent homeowner. No expense was spared where extra amenities are concerned. Its 4,300 square feet includes a custom state of the art kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances, a turtle and fish aquarium, a fully equipped play room, artwork donated by several Native American tribes and custom furniture from Bruener’s Arizona worth an estimated $125,000.
