Help out the Red Cross

National Volunteer Week was last week, so there now’s a good time to show appreciation for the volunteers who make it possible for your local Northern Arizona District of the American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter to serve our three counties. Volunteers are very special people—people who give because they want to, expecting nothing in return. They are your neighbors, your co-workers, members of your congregation, parents of your child’s playmate. Their willing hearts are a treasure and an inspiration.

Your local Red Cross volunteers have had a busy year. Within the first half of the year, these Red Crossers have responded to local disasters, providing shelter, food, counseling and other services to our neighbors in need. Red Cross volunteers have trained people in the skills they need to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their homes, schools, workplaces and communities—skills such as first aid, CPR, babysitting, caregiving, emergency preparedness, and more.

Volunteers have supported local blood drives during which generous donors gave a precious gift—the gift of life. And Red Cross volunteers have helped families of U.S. service members separated by military duty stay connected every day.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. Every service we provide is dependent upon their selfless dedication. This National Volunteer Week, become a Red Cross volunteer. You’ll join a group of satisfied, involved friends. Right now, your local Red Cross needs disaster volunteers.
