Advice from the ADEQ

The Arizona Department of Environemtal Quality has prepared a fact sheet to help residents affected by recent floddwaters to ensure their well water is safe to drink.

Recent flooding across Arizona could impact private domestic wells and affect the drinking water quality as well. The fact sheet offers residents steps that should be taken to ensure their water is safe.

The fact sheet provides information on how to inspect a private well for damage, properly chlorinate the water to rid it of bacteria and have the water tested by a licensed labratory.

The fact sheet is available at ADEQ Web site, http://azdeq.gov or by calling the ADEQ Safe Drinking Water section at 1-602-771-4644.
