Wildcats get back on winning track<br>

The Joseph City Wildcats got back on the winning track with a convincing 47-16 victory over the Salome Frogs in Joseph City on Friday.

The win left the Wildcats with a record of six wins and only one loss. The Wildcats suffered their only loss on Oct. 8 when they fell to the undefeated Mogollon Mustangs.

The Wildcats took control of the game early and led 8-0 after the first quarter and 24-0 at the intermission.

By the time the fourth period began, Joseph City was ahead 31-0. Both teams scored 16 points in the final quarter.

The win completed Joseph City’s regular season schedule. The Wildcats will now await news of their first opponent in the 1A Conference Playoffs.

At press time, it was not known who Joseph City would play in the state tournament and where the contest would be held.

Mogollon, the only team to defeat the Wildcats, hosted St. Michael’s on Friday with the score not yet reported and still had an Oct. 22 game at Seligman on its regular season schedule.

Apparently, the Wildcats will have an extra week to await news of their opponent and prepare for the state playoffs.
