WHITE RIVER – The Greyhills Academy High School Knights Harriers garnered six medals in a cross country meet here on Friday, Oct. 8, at Alchesay High School.
The Knights cross-country team traveled five hours here and battled fine dust, clear skies, and the hot, burning sun on the 3.1 mile course at the Alchesay fairgrounds in earning the six medals.
For the Knights’ JV Boys, Lewis Hascon and Gavin Smith earned eighth and 10th place medals.
In the Varsity Girls race, Leah Strong, Necole Jim, and Evelyn Begay garnished 5th, 7th, and 20th place medals respectively.
Kevin Nez, running his first race respectively, earned the 15th place medal.
Overall, the Varsity boys team placed 5th. The varsity girls did not have a full team so as result did not qualify for a score.
The Knights traveled to Winslow on Tuesday, Oct. 12, for a make-up meet, and on Friday, they will compete in the Bud Davis Cross Country Invitational at Tuba City High School, starting at 3 p.m.
“The teams are running well and with three meets before regionals, we will continue to train hard in preparation for the Oct 30 meet in Monument Valley,” said Coach Annette Hemstreet.
