The Joseph City Wildcats remained unbeaten with a 50-6 victory over the Fredonia Lynx in Fredonia on Saturday. The win was the fifth in as many outings for the Wildcats.
The Lynx were in the game for the first half, but fell out of contention in the third quarter. The Wildcats scored twice in the first period and led 14-0 going into the second quarter. The second period was played on nearly equal terms and Joseph City went to the locker room with a 22-6 halftime lead.
The Wildcats put the game out of reach with 22 unanswered third quarter points to build a 44-6 lead. The first score of the fourth period caused the contest to be terminated due to the 42 point mercy rule in effect in Class 1A football.
The Wildcats will meet the always formidable Mogollon Mustangs on Friday. Mogollon has reported three scores, all convincing wins.
Three games were scheduled but no scores have been reported for those contests. Mogollon defeated the Canyon State Spartans 62-20 on Friday. Other Mogollon victories reported were a 52-7 win over Tempe Prep and a 24-0 victory over Orme.
